MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Biologists at the D N R want your pinecones.

The Department of Natural Resources is paying by the bushel for red pine and white pine cones. That’s to help with reforestation efforts in parts of the state hit by drought and wildfires.

They’re looking for cones harvested from natural areas and not from your yard. All you have to do is bring the cones to your nearest state nursery. It’s 125 dollars for red pine and 60 dollars for white pine cones.
