RICE LAKE, Wis. (WJMC) — Sunday, Aug. 18, marked the 90th anniversary of Lehman’s Supper Club in Rice Lake.
Owners Butch and Trudy Lehman hosted an all-day party with complimentary food and drinks, live music, guest bartenders, and fireworks. Family, friends, guests and past and current employees packed the event, sharing stories and their appreciation for the establishment, which has been a longtime staple of the community.
“It was overwhelming. It was an amazing turnout. It was such a humbling experience and we couldn’t have been happier. Ninety years, boy, it’s just amazing,” said Butch Lehman.
What does the future hold for the supper club?
“Lord only knows. We’re just given one day at a time. We are closed on Monday and Tuesday, but we’ll be back at it on Wednesday,” Lehman said.
“A great thank you to everyone out there. We appreciate the town, the surrounding area, the state of Wisconsin, and everybody who has been so kind. We’re so thankful. Thank you for your loyal and continuing times that you spend with us. It’s just a great thing. We appreciate everybody.”
The family-owned business started in 1934, with Butch and Trudy joining in the partnership with his late parents in the 1970s. Four of the couple’s five children, Claire, Paul, John, Michael and Anna, remain active with the four-generation business.
