MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — Keep an eye out for fake friend requests on your social media feeds.
Keep an eye out for fake friend requests on your social media feeds. Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin president Jim Temmer says getting a message like that from someone who’s already on your list is suspicious.
“Really think twice before accepting it because once you do, they’re going to see all that information that you’re trying not to make available to the general public<” Temmer said.
That can include your home address, phone number, a list of your friends, and the sorts of things a scammer might want to make them look more believable to other people. If you think a friend might have been hacked, contact them another way to let them know.
