SPOONER, Wis. (WJMC) — A former Spooner police officer is in jail and charged for alleged child sex crimes involving two victims.

26-year-old Dakota “Cody” Dorn, of Spooner, was arrested and charged in Washburn County on Thursday.

Court documents allege that while a police officer, he inappropriately touched a middle-school aged victim during a ride along and numerous times at the school during the 2022-23 school year.

Charges also identify a high-school aged victim, whom he also met through a ride along. He allegedly once pressured this victim for sex at his residence, sent an explicit photo, asked for similar photos in return, and gifted expensive digital devices.

He faces five felony child sex crime charges and three misdemeanor obstruction charges. The Spooner Police Department said Dorn was under investigation since October, and had resigned in December, after four years on the job with the department.

Dorn was being held in the Barron County Jail.
