CHETEK, Wis. (WJMC) — Saturday, May 25, marks the 18th Annual Bluegill Fishing Contest and Raffle in Chetek.
The event is put on by the Chetek/Weyerhaeuser Booster Club as a fundraiser to raise money for charity and helping out area youth. Ben Knepper with the Booster Club gives us a rundown of the day’s schedule.
“Fishing goes from noon to four. Registration starts at 11 o’clock in the morning. There’s $12,000 cash and prizes? I think we have three or four gun boards. We’ve got usually a grill or a high-end cooler of some sort that we’re gonna raffle off. We do a silent auction with everything, from like a spice basket from Sugar & Spice, to usually something like tickets to a Twins game or something like that. So we have a lot of stuff to get involved with,” Knepper said.
The contest kicks off at Gilligans in Chetek. Cost is $40 per boat, with only one bluegill registered per boat.
