RICE LAKE, Wis. (WJMC) — An annual banquet to support petunias in Rice Lake is next week.
Rice Lake is known as Petunia City. Among the many petunias that grace the downtown area each summer, the hanging baskets are the work of the Rice Lake Main Street Association.
Support is needed for the cost and upkeep of the baskets. The Petunias Unlimited Banquet is set for Monday, May 6th, at the Elks Club in Rice Lake. President Jodi Bunnell gives a preview.
“This is our major fundraiser. The proceeds from the Petunia Banquet obviously help us with the petunias, but also help us with other beautification projects on Main Street in the downtown area,” Bunnell said of the fundraiser event.
“So, the doors open at 4:30, and we’ll have games and raffles. We’ll have live auction, silent auction. It’s 50-dollars per person, or you can reserve a table of eight, which a lot of people like to do, so they bring all their friends, and a table of eight is 400-dollars.”
